Biography

Dimension Act is a Norwegian melodic progressive metal band formed by multi-instrumentalist Marius Nilsen and vocalist Tom Vidar Salangli in 2008. Soon after, the duo was joined by Kristian Berg (Keyboards), Tommy Granli (bass) and Frank Nordeng Røe (drums).

In 2012, the band’s debut album, Manifestation of Progress, was released through US label Progrock Records. The album made waves in the progressive metal community, with rave reviews comparing the band with the likes of Dream Theater, Vanden Plas and Evergrey. The success of the debut album secured the band a slot at ProgPower Oslo in November 2012, making it the band’s live debut. After some live appearances through 2012-2014, the band turned its focus on the completion of the second studio album.

And then there was silence.

Until now.

In March 2026, the band finally announced their “comeback”, with a new album titled Labyrinths of Life. “Most people probably reckoned the band was done and over”, reflects singer Tom-Vidar Salangli. “And I understand them. 12 years with no public activity doesn’t exactly give the impression of a working band. But this second album was always the plan. It just didn’t materialize until now”.

“The debut album is always special for an artist”, continues guitarist and producer Marius Nilsen. “And it was for us as well. But, I must say, this new one feels like a second debut and a second coming. With 14 years between the albums, we’ve grown both as a band, as individuals and as composers. And we’re ready to show the world that we still have progressive business to do. We’re extremely proud of this new album, and can’t wait to share it with the rest of the world!”
